I’ve heard that many rugs that are bought on the internet, as many as 1 in 5, often arrive with imperfections and are severely creased and bent – can you explain?

Unfortunately this is - to some degree correct. This is because most rugs bought from the internet are dispatched direct from the supplier without the internet retailer ever seeing them. Although this is a cost effective method of selling rugs unfortunately the customer becomes disappointed and disillusioned with their purchase and is forced to complain, arrange another time and date for the rug to be collected (usually involving taking unnecessary time of work) and await the arrival of a replacement rug.

An example of this can be seen here.

Buying from Fringes means you can buy with confidence. Every rug, without exception, is inspected and professionally steamed (if necessary) and rolled prior to dispatch ensuring your rug arrives in impeccable condition.

Is child labor used to construct fringes rugs?

There is tremendous difference between child labor and illegal child labor, fringes in no way support illegal child labor. For more information please click here.

What rug sizes and colours are available?

When you have seen a rug you like there is an option to view both sizes and prices available. If you are looking for a special unique rug, one that we have personally selected, it is likely that there will be only one in that size – in which case the exact measurements will be clearly shown.

Why do rugs that look similar vary in price?

The main reason why rugs vary in price is because of their construction. Hand made rugs can take months to make as apposed to a machine made rugs which can be made in weeks. Also it is worth considering that the quality of rugs is NOT determined by the length of the fiber but by the number of knots per line or square inch. Finally, the quality of the fiber – wool, silk, polypropylene or acrylic all vary in quality, so if you need advice when looking for that perfect rug please telephone or email on of our rug specialists who will be more than happy to answer your questions.
